Experiential Learning: Education Abroad

This session will explore experiential learning opportunities offered for students to enhance their academic learning through Education Abroad programs across the world. Parents and families will hear directly from Education Abroad staff about the various options for studying abroad including locations, program types and areas of study. Additionally, families will learn how to prepare, plan and finance Education Abroad experiences.

Housing Options for Students After the First Year

This session will share about the variety of housing options and important questions to consider for students and families when determining the best housing option for future years. University Housing will detail on-campus options, Off-Campus Life will provide considerations for students seeking to move off-campus and a local real estate partner will share information on the Fort Collins housing market.

Career Center Drop-In Appointments for Parents and Family Members

All current CSU parent and family members are invited to visit the Career Center for drop-in appointments to discuss their student’s career plans, internships, resume, or any additional career planning questions. Students are also welcome to join the appointment. Drop-in hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4 in the Career Center located in the Lory Student Center lower level, room 120.

We would like to welcome parents and students to join us for the annual Parent & Family Breakfast at the Lory Student Center Ballroom. This is a wonderful time to connect and re-connect with CSU friends, plus have the opportunity to meet CSU leadership.

Jazz Ensembles Concert

Join the Jazz Ensembles, conducted by Wil Swindler and Shilo Stroman, as they explore the unfolding of jazz through the 20th century into our modern world. “There is a treasure trove of classic jazz works that have been reimagined by modern jazz musicians reflecting the developing aesthetic of our music and our culture,” says Swindler. Original classics, back-to-back with adventurous, contemporary arrangements, demonstrate the fascinating differences and development of this diverse and unique genre. A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare, Directed by Walt Jones

William Shakespeare’s classic, first performed around 1596, is one of the bard’s most beloved plays. For centuries, audiences have enjoyed this comic fantasy about four lovers who find themselves bewitched by fairies and suffering strange love experiences. Four interconnecting plots are set simultaneously in the wooded realm of Fairyland, under the light of the moon. Portraying the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus to Hippolyta, an Athenian weaver who is transformed into an ass-headed monster, and the antics of Oberon and Titiana, the fairy king and queen, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is an artful examination of love, jealousy, and marriage and is a delightful evening, full of wit and magical surprises.
